CHART TOPPING CONTEMPORARY JAZZ SAXOPHONIST
Thirty four years since his recording debut as a leader, Marion’s vision remains focused. “I try and offer a peaceful and loving approach through my music,” shares the saxman, who is also an accomplished photographer, visual artist, and avid cyclist. “Music is that one gift that enables us to get to a place where we can release the stresses of life and let the music take over.”

Meadows musical endeavors are a who’s who of jazz.  Meadows studied with iconic heavy-weight saxophonists Joe Henderson, Sonny Fortune, and Dave Liebman. He has been a well-known sideman in his own right, recording or performing over the years with Brook Benton, Eartha Kitt, Phyllis Hyman, Jean Carne, The Temptations, Michael Bolton, Angela Bofill, Will Downing, Bob Baldwin, Chuck Loeb, John Lee, among many others.  His collaborations include The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, George Benson, and Eartha Kitt.

His career really began one day in the late ‘80s at New York’s Grand Central Station. While waiting for a train, he pulled out his horn and began playing under the huge dome, where he caught the attention of producer and TV composer Jay Chattaway, who happened to be passing by. Chattaway was so impressed with Meadows’ sound that he hooked Meadows up with legendary keyboardist Bob James.  Although James and Meadows never released an album together, they did record several tracks which Meadows attributes to his foray into contemporary jazz.

Meadows first hit the airwaves in 1991 with “For Lovers Only”, first RCA release “For Lover’s Only” was a huge success and was followed by his groundbreaking “Keep it Right There” album.  17 albums later, he is a staple of contemporary jazz.

Meadows celebrates over 3 decades of recording with his latest October 2024 album release “Just Doing Me.  Meadows pays homage to the principles of honoring thy self, music as humanity and taking care of the planet with an all-star lineup including Chris “Big Dog” Davis, Rahni Song, Wirlie Morris, Paul Brown and others.
