A STRAIGHT-AHEAD TRIBUTE TO RAMSEY LEWIS, PART 2
In this straight-ahead jazz series, we curate a vibrant set of performances for the true jazz fan in you.  This month, we present classic jazz pianist Charles Craig, in a “Part 2” tribute to his early mentor, Ramsey Lewis.
Craig will showcase Ramsey Lewis’s music beyond his famous cross-over hits, to explore his globally-inspired music and his deeper dive into jazz influences with songs such as Brazilica and Song for My Father.
Jazz pianist, three-time Grammy winner, and NEA Jazz Master Ramsey Lewis successfully crossed over from the jazz charts to the pop charts with his swinging jazz piano style, rooted in classical training, infused with gospel and popular R&B, and coupled with an elegant stage presence.  Expanding his career through teaching, programming, and work in radio and television, he is recognized as an ambassador for jazz.
