HARVEY CUMMINGS
Harvey Cummings II is an award-winning saxophonist, pianist, and producer renowned for his “soul-inflected jazz” that seamlessly blends sophisticated melodies with hip-hop rhythms. A cornerstone of the North Carolina music scene and a graduate of NCCU, he has built a prestigious resume performing for icons like President Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey, while touring or recording with national acts such as TLC, Anthony Hamilton, and Branford Marsalis. His creative reach extends to television, having contributed to the soundtrack of Cartoon Network’s The Boondocks alongside legendary producer 9th Wonder.

Deeply rooted in the Charlotte community, Cummings balances high-profile performances with impactful local leadership. He has collaborated with the Charlotte Symphony, headlined the NoteWorthy classical-fusion series, and founded “The Standard” jazz workshop at the Harvey B. Gantt Center. His reputation as a premier live performer earned him a spot on Music Connection Magazine’s Hot 100 Unsigned Live Artists list, solidifying his status as both a regional cultural leader and a national-caliber talent.

His solo discography reflects a deep connection to his heritage and modern evolution, beginning with the 2017 Chicken Day EP—a tribute to HBCU culture. In 2025, he released his latest album, The Only Child, preceded by the vibrant singles “Su Casa,” “Xtra Vibey,” and “It’s Not You, It’s Me.” This project culminated in a landmark live concert experience at Headliners CLT, further cementing his legacy as a pioneer of the modern jazz-fusion movement.
