“Girls in Gowns” A Benefit Concert for Students Without Mothers
“Girls in Gowns” is a unique musical initiative and benefit concert created by singer and actor Maria Howell. The project brings together talented female performers to showcase a collaborative blend of various musical genres while dressed in elegant formal gowns, and above all, for a good cause. Students Without Mothers (founded by Mary Torrence Williams) is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping high school students without mothers help themselves by empowering them to continue their education. The organization’s main purpose is to provide scholarships for college-bound high school students who are without their mothers due to death or other unfortunate circumstances. www.studentswithoutmothers.org

Maria Howell: A versatile actress known for The Color Purple and Hidden Figures, Howell currently stars in the CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates. As a celebrated song stylist, she has shared the stage with legends like Nancy Wilson and George Benson.

Ronee Martin: America’s Got Talent quarterfinalist, Martin earned high praise from Simon Cowell for her world-class vocal talent. She is an accomplished songwriter who contributed to Gladys Knight’s Good Woman album and has collaborated with jazz icon Tom Scott.

Robyn Springer: A dynamic New York native, Springer’s soulful first-alto voice effortlessly spans jazz, R&B, and classic rock. Her international career includes a debut album on Virgin Records and performances with greats like Herbie Hancock and George Benson.

Karen Briggs (Violinist): Internationally acclaimed as the “Lady in Red,” Briggs gained global fame as the featured soloist in Yanni’s Live at the Acropolis. She is a premier contemporary violinist who has performed alongside icons such as Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan.
