“Richard Elliot has an uncanny ability to combine precision and technical mastery with passion and excitement. As a result, whether you’re a casual listener or a jazz fanatic (like me), Richard Elliot’s music is richly rewarding.” – Danny Weiss, Shanachie VP of Jaz A&R.

Exposed to a mix of music from Joni Mitchell, Dave Brubeck, and the Temptations through his older sister’s record collection, saxophonist Richard Elliot went on to work with three of the Motown legends that inspired him. As a teenager, Elliot landed his first jobs with Natalie Cole and the Pointer Sisters. His enviable credits also include a five-year stint with the funk and soul horns of Tower of Power.

Richard Elliot has managed to carve out his own niche from a rich cauldron of influences, resulting in more than 20 Top 10 Smooth Jazz singles and #1 Contemporary Jazz albums.
His 2024 release, “Straight Up Down,” shines a light on Richard Elliot’s signature soulful and bluesy approach, which seamlessly combines his technical prowess and unbridled passion with the finer elements of Jazz, Blues, Pop, R&B, and Rock.
On his albums and those of his peers, Elliot has enjoyed collaborations with an incredible A-list set including Dave Koz, Gerald Albright, Mindi Abair, Rick Braun, Jeff Lorber, and many more. Never one to sit still, Elliot is known to play over 100 dates a year.
