WITH SPECIAL GUESTS ZIAD RABIE & RODNEY SHELTON
Tribute to the Music of Sade
“One of the greatest singers of all time.” – Rolling Stone.
Nigerian-born Sade’s unique career created a new “sophisti-pop” genre that has attracted an immense, multi-generational global fanbase, while committing to artistic integrity and a life out of the public eye. With only six studio albums to her name, she has won four Grammy Awards across four different decades, a testament to the timeless appeal of her velvety, understated, and emotion-packed vocal style.
ROBYN SPRINGER
WATCH
Returning to Middle C Jazz with this fan-favorite tribute, vocalist Robyn Springer boasts a versatile, sultry style perfect for Sade’s music. Her rich voice was shaped by the Bronx church choir and New York gangsta rap. Robyn has appeared on albums by Najee and John Forte, and toured with George Benson, Herbie Hancock, Isaac Hayes, and Kirk Whalum.
RODNEY SHELTON
Grammy-nominated Rodney “Keys” Shelton is a notable figure in the music industry. In the early ’90s, after meeting music promoter Howard Rosen, producer Stewart Levine, and Jolie Jones, Rodney’s band “Curio” signed with Motown. During this time, he co-wrote the platinum hit “Kissing You” with Keith Washington and Marsha Jenkins, which remains popular after 20 years. The band also appeared in the film “Another 48 Hours” with Eddie Murphy.
