WITH SPECIAL GUESTS ZIAD RABIE & RODNEY SHELTON

Tribute to the Music of Sade
“One of the greatest singers of all time.” – Rolling Stone.

Nigerian-born Sade’s unique career created a new “sophisti-pop” genre that has attracted an immense, multi-generational global fanbase, while committing to artistic integrity and a life out of the public eye. With only six studio albums to her name, she has won four Grammy Awards across four different decades, a testament to the timeless appeal of her velvety, understated, and emotion-packed vocal style.

ROBYN SPRINGER

WATCH

Returning to Middle C Jazz with this fan-favorite tribute, vocalist Robyn Springer boasts a versatile and sultry style that lends itself perfectly to the music of Sade.  Robyn Springer’s unique, rich vocal tone was molded by the Bronx church choir and the then-popular gangsta rap of her New York City youth. Robyn has been featured on albums by contemporary jazz saxophonist Najee and Fugees’ alternative rapper John Forte. She has toured with such legends as George Benson, Herbie Hancock, Isaac Hayes, and Kirk Whalum.

RODNEY SHELTON
Grammy nominated Rodney “Keys” Shelton is a quiet storm of the music industry.  In the early 90’s after meeting with legendary music promoter/manager “Howard Rosen”, legendary producer Stewart Levine and Jolie Jones (daughter of Quincy Jones), Rodney’s band “Curio” signed a deal with Motown records.  While signed to Motown, Rodney met R&B singer “Keith Washington” and along with Marsha Jenkins wrote the platinum record “Kissing You”, which after 20 years is still rocking the airwaves.  the band performed in the hit movie “Another 48 Hours” featuring Eddie Murphy.

ZIAD RABIE
Ziad is the Artistic Director for “Jazz at the Bechtler” where he currently performs monthly.  Ziad has recorded with national artists such as The Godfather of Soul James Brown, Gospel Music Hall of Fame Recording Artist “John P. Kee”, and Giant Warner Recording Artists “Company.”   He has performed live with or alongside Grover Washington Jr., Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, Tom Scott, The Crusaders, Aretha Franklin, and more.
