Renowned saxophonist Elan Trotman delivers a spectacular musical tribute to the “Prince of Soul”, cultural icon Marvin Gaye.
This special performance draws heavily from Trotman’s acclaimed tribute album, Dear Marvin, where he infuses Gaye’s iconic masterpieces with his signature “Island-Jazz” style, blending deep soulful foundations with the vibrant Calypso and Reggae rhythms of his Barbados homeland. While bringing a fresh, tropical groove to these classic hits, the concert also serves as a celebratory nod to Trotman’s own milestone of 25 years of musical excellence.

Since his professional debut in 2001, Elan Trotman has shared his own style of contemporary jazz as a saxophonist, composer, and educator. Born and raised in Barbados—the native island of pop icon Rihanna—Trotman’s musical identity is a rich tapestry of Caribbean culture and world-class technical precision.
After graduating from the Berklee College of Music in 2001, Trotman spent a decade balancing a dual life: shaping young minds as an educator in Boston Public Schools while simultaneously ascending the jazz charts. His breakthrough debut, Memories, served as the springboard for a career that has since produced over 10 solo albums and more than 15 Billboard-charting singles, including hits like “As,” “Thoughts of Summer,” and “Tradewinds.”
Trotman’s quarter century journey is marked by prestigious accolades, including multiple “Jazz Artist of the Year” honors from both the New England Urban Music Awards and the Barbados Music Awards. His collaborative spirit has led him to share the stage and studio with industry titans such as Jeffrey Osborne, Roberta Flack, Peabo Bryson, and Peter White.
Beyond the stage, Trotman is a dedicated philanthropist. He is the founder of the Never Lose Your Drive Foundation, which supports the Headstart Music Program in Barbados, providing free instrument instruction to children. He also serves as the executive producer of the Barbados Jazz Excursion, an annual festival that fuses his love for music, golf, and his home island.
