Gena Chambers pays tribute to fellow South Carolina native and superstar Angie Stone, a pioneer of rap music who began with the female rap trio “The Sequence” and their #1 hit “Funk You Up.” This ultimately led to her solo career that defined neo-soul. This 2024 Woman Songwriters Hall of Famer broke ground in R&B, neo-soul, and rap with songs like “Wish I Didn’t Miss You,” “No More Rain (In This Cloud),” and “Baby.”

GENA CHAMBERS
Gena Chambers is a native of Columbia, SC, where her musical journey began. Her roots were planted firmly in the church and grew from there to encompass Jazz, R&B, funk, country, and pop. She has traveled all over the country performing with notable smooth jazz artists such as Oli Silk, Will Downing, Marqueal Jordan, Mike Manson, and Tom Braxton. She has also opened for such Jazz giants as Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum, Sheila E., and Jonathan Butler, to name a few, and performed the National Anthem for President Barack Obama. Her high-energy performances are a favorite among Middle C Jazz audiences.
