Joe Gransden is a world-class trumpeter and vocalist whose career bridges the gap between the historic big band era and the modern jazz scene. Often described as the “Jazz Ambassador” of Atlanta, Gransden is known for his dual mastery of the trumpet and a crooning vocal style that has earned frequent comparisons to Chet Baker and Frank Sinatra.

A third-generation musician, Gransden began playing the trumpet at a young age, and as a teenager, joined the road as a sideman with the legendary Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller orchestras. Throughout his career, he has performed with iconic artists across genres, including Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Barry White, and The Moody Blues.

While renowned for his aggressive yet lyrical “hard bop” approach on the trumpet, Gransden’s vocal approach brings a warm, “old soul” energy to the stage, making classic standards and swing rhythms accessible and engaging for modern audiences.  Whether leading his 16-piece Big Band or a smaller  ensemble, Gransden is noted for his innate ability to connect with an audience through humor, showmanship, and a deep respect for the Great American Songbook.

Gransden has released over 19 CDs, with his latest projects including The Art of the Song (2023) and collaborations with saxophonist Kenny G.
