This series offers you an immersive journey through jazz history, by experiencing legendary albums performed live, front-to-back. Each performance captures the energy and improvisational spirit of an iconic album that defined the evolution of jazz.

THE ALBUM
Released in 1959, Miles Davis’s Kind of Blue stands as a watershed moment in music history and the best-selling jazz album of all time.

At its core, the record revolutionized the genre by shifting away from the complex, rapid-fire chord progressions of hard bop toward modal jazz. By using musical modes—or scales—as the structural foundation for improvisation rather than dense chord changes, Davis gave his musicians unprecedented breathing room.

Kind of Blue did not just redefine the boundaries of modern jazz; its profound harmonic freedom influenced genres from rock to ambient music, cementing Davis’s legacy as one of the ultimate architects of 20th-century sound.
