Don’t miss a spectacular evening celebrating the groundbreaking legacy of Wes Montgomery, the most pivotal voice in jazz guitar history. Charlotte’s own veteran guitarist, Troy Conn leads a dynamic small ensemble in a tribute mirroring the master’s spirit, swing, and expressive style. Experience faithful renditions of Montgomery’s most iconic compositions, including “Four on Six,” “West Coast Blues,” and “Road Song.”

WES MONTGOMERY
Wes Montgomery didn’t just play the jazz guitar; he fundamentally redefined it, and his distinctive style became a fundamental part of the jazz guitar vocabulary. He was the first to make octave doubling a central feature of jazz improvisation, adding unmatched richness and power to his sound. Furthermore, Montgomery used an unconventional thumb-picking style that gave the electric guitar a soft, vocal-like tone. His melodic approach elevated the guitar, making it capable of sounding like a full rhythm section and a solo voice simultaneously, influencing countless musicians across all genres.
