JD’s Sunday Smooth presents William Green and a tribute to the great crossover keyboardist George Duke.

THE MUSIC OF GEORGE DUKE, FUSION KEYBOARD MAESTRO
Two-time Grammy winning George Duke (1946–2013) was a supremely versatile keyboardist who effortlessly crossed musical boundaries. His music was characterized by a potent blend of jazz fusion, funk, soul, and R&B, showcasing his virtuosity on the piano and synthesizers with an infectious, funky groove.  His prolific solo career and extensive collaborations cemented a legacy as a true master of modern Black music.

As comfortable performing with Cannonball Adderley as boundary-pushing Frank Zappa, Duke is recognized with R&B and crossover chart hits alongside a place in the Soul Music Hall of Fame.

PRESENTED BY JAZZ VOCALIST & PIANIST WILLIAM GREEN
William Green delivers funky, upbeat, soulful and contemporary jazz sounds, and exudes unforgettable stage appeal and showmanship. He possesses one of those rare, “instant classic” voices — forceful, yet gentle. Green’s music is beautiful, lyrically refreshing, vocally and melodically unique, timeless, rich and jazzy.

His five albums discography are an exceptionally well composed body of original songs, written and produced by Green. “I pride myself on creating timeless music that can be shared with the world for a lifetime.”  His most recent full length album “Good To Go (feat. James PJ Spraggins) was just released in October.

Green has showcased his keyboard mastery with audiences  around the world while performing nationally with acclaimed artists such as Boney James, Tom Brown, Earl Klugh, Roy Ayers, Peabo Bryson, Cameo, Valerie Simpson, Jennifer Holiday, and Curtis Mayfield. He also had the privilege of appearing with Susan Tedeschi, as the opening act for the Rolling Stones, Spyro Gyra and The Yellow Jackets.
