Robbie Cunningham, Exploring Music with Purpose
Saturday, August 3 at 6:15 and 8:45pm
“Music has always been my soulmate.”
Singer Songwriter Robbie Cunningham grew up in Richmond, Virginia surrounded by an eclectic musical environment, and he has taken that breadth to the next level.
Robbie grew up with everything from Jazz, R&B classical and gospel. A self taught musician, he spent his early days living in Washington DC and began playing drums in church; later joining a local band where he also developed as a singer.
“Church training” became the launching pad to his first recording as “Robbie Mychals” on the Alpha International label out of Philadelphia, landing a few R&B Billboard chart placements, but that would only be his initiation into the music business.
Working with top artists, musicians, songwriters and engineers, like Bob Baldwin, Patti LaBelle and others, Robbie started Zoé Music Group as a vehicle to create his brand of “Life music,” which comprises a blend of Jazz, R&B and Gospel.
Robbie is also known under the pseudonym “JazzimatronX”. With two albums under that name, JazzimatronX projects are a collection of musicians as well as a way for Robbie to explore his instrumental side.
“In today’s music environment, if there’s passion and a plan, you can do some incredible things.”
Robbie spends his time composing, producing and recording with a variety of artists and writing for sync, producing what he calls quality “life music”.
