Acoustic Alchemy, Contemporary Jazz Pioneers

Born in the UK, forged in the US, triple Grammy-nominated Acoustic Alchemy is an unmissable force at the forefront of contemporary jazz for over 3 decades.

‘Well at least nobody could ever accuse us of releasing too much music!’ quips Greg Carmichael on the release of their latest 2025 EP “The Empire of Lights”, ‘but I think our fans know by now that we’re a little obsessive about only releasing music when we have something ready that we really love.’ The four tracks on their latest release visit familiar themes for longtime fans, from the western shuffle of “8,000 Miles” to the reggae flavors of “Alisio”, the upbeat joy of “Back to Back” to the laid back groove of “Other People”. 

 

With over 35 years of recording and touring, the band’s longevity may be due in part to that spirit of never trying to fit in, but to just make music that they love, ‘I feel really grateful that we’ve been on such a long journey with our fans and they’re still there with us.’ Greg says, ‘We talk after shows and it’s always such an honor to hear the stories of how our music has been the soundtrack to so many people’s lives.’

 

Live in concert, the band’s signature sound comes alive through the brilliant, conversational contrast of Greg Carmichael’s nylon-string guitar playing alongside Miles Gilderdale’s energetic steel-string and electric work, backed by a rhythm section full of groove and funk.
