Featuring the dynamic pairing of Shana Blake and Colby Dobbs, this performance breathes new life into soul, jazz, and R&B hits with fresh interpretation and undeniable chemistry. Familiar melodies meet unexpected emotion in a show that challenges tradition while celebrating connection. By crossing the vocal divide, we discover that while heartbreak, desire, and triumph each have their own voice, ultimately they’re universal.
SHANA BLAKE
Homegrown in Charlotte, North Carolina, Shana Blake has been influenced by a wide variety of genres and musical experiences throughout her life — the Charlotte Folk Society jams and church music she grew up on, the various collaborative projects she’s been a part of, the vast catalogue of studio recordings to which she’s leant her vocals, the plethora of bands she’s performed with, and beyond — she applies that diversity to her unique adaptations of cover songs, as well as to her own songwriting. Her original song, “This Is Your Day”, was adopted as an anthem for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and her song, “Springer” earned Shana a spotlight performance on the Jerry Springer Show. She uses her platform as an artist to share messages of unity, love, healing, personal empowerment and inspiration, a calling that she’s very passionate about, both on stage and off. She has a vibe that’s free-spirited and fresh, yet familiar, and she always puts the ‘fun’ in funky!
COLBY DOBBS
Colby Dobbs is a Charlotte-based singer-songwriter known for his crisp vocals and mature piano styling. Heavily influenced by Motown, yacht rock, and fusion, Dobbs draws inspiration from legends like Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan to create a sound that is both nostalgic and polished. Since 2009, he has fronted the Colby Dobbs Band and more recently formed the duo Lawn Friends. A seasoned performer across the Carolinas, Dobbs released his latest album, In The City, in 2023. He is celebrated for his extensive repertoire and an intuitive ability to read a crowd’s energy, making him a standout fixture in the regional music scene.
