North Carolina native keyboardist Howard McNair was destined for a life immersed in music. With fundamentals forged in the gospel of the church and honed by the improvisational freedom of jazz, Howard’s music is a rich blend of soul-touching genres.
His mother, a talented musician and singer herself, recognized his quick grasp of the drums at only 2 years old. This early exposure and natural aptitude set the stage for a remarkable musical journey.
Growing up in the church where his father served as pastor, McNair’s talents were nurtured. At just nine years old, he became the church’s pianist, an assignment that not only enriched the worship experience but honed his skills as a musician and songwriter. From this foundational experience, Howard has traveled the world, sharing stages with renowned artists across genres including gospel, jazz, rhythm and blues, and hip hop.
Throughout his career, McNair has forged valuable relationships within the music industry, leading to collaborations with acclaimed artists such as Mike Phillips, Carol Riddick, and The Hamiltones.
McNair’s creative output extends beyond accompaniment. He began releasing his own music in 2020 with the single “Moments,” followed by “Sumthin” in 2021, and “Hear Me Out” in 2024.
