For the last seven years, Dancing with the Stars of Charlotte ~ Dancing for a Cause has been steadfast in supporting individuals and their families who have been affected by breast cancer in our community. This year, we are excited to expand our mission to include a focus on the mental health of teenagers through the Katie Blessing Foundation.

Miami-raised Albert Castiglia has embarked on a solo career that’s yielded many critically-acclaimed albums and consist kudos for his exceptional instrumental prowess, his searing vocals, and live performances that have dazzled audiences from coast to coast. After the highly successful and critically acclaimed release of Masterpiece on Gulf Coast Records, Castiglia was nominated for two Blues Music Awards in the categories of Blues Rock Album of the Year and Blues Rock Artist of the Year. He makes his Middle C debut on Wednesday, November 8 at 7pm!

Featured Artist of the Week: Brian Simpson
After graduating from Northern Illinois University, keyboardist and composer Brian Simpson relocated to Los Angeles where he was soon playing alongside musicians Gerald Albright and Norman Brown and eventually on a world tour with Janet Jackson. In 1990 Simpson received a call from George Duke that led to a decade of touring and production work with the late jazz legend. It was his tenure with George that led to working with a variety of artists, from James Ingram and Anita Baker to Dave Koz and Wayman Tisdale. The popularity of his music worldwide has kept Mr. Simpson on a seemingly endless world tour which in 2019 included Japan, Australia, Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Spain, United Kingdom, Portugal, and South Africa. With writing and performing credits on R&B chart-topping albums and Smooth Jazz Airplay charts, it’s clear why Brian is the veteran Music Director of so many jazz events.
Brian is a recording artist with Shanachie Entertainment which is releasing his tenth CD entitled All That Matters (2021).

With a career that spanned over six decades, his experiments in odd time signatures, improvised counterpoint, polyrhythm and polytonality remain hallmarks of innovation. Join Noel Freidline and the Jazz Legacy Project for “Dave Brubeck: Time Out” on Sunday, November 12 at 6pm!

The Coconut Groove Band is a local group consisting of four dynamic musicians/Singers. They are especially known for their tight vocal harmonies and are in great demand here in the Queen City. On Thursday, November 16 at 7pm, join us for an energetic performance by the Embers! There are many bands or groups today yet few that are considered a musical institution. The Embers boast numerous albums and single releases that span decades and all the crazes continuing to exhibit top quality showmanship, musicianship and professionalism. The Embers consider the genre of Beach Music as “music with a memory” and have been creating lasting memories since its inception in 1958. Simply put – Heart and Soul, Rhythm and Blues, Feel Good Music.

An Evening with John Splithoff
A singer/songwriter who splices together throwback soul, modern production, and a laid-back pop vibe, John Splithoff released his first EP in 2013 but began to gain momentum with the digital releases of 2016’s “Sing to You” and 2017’s “Show Me.” Join us for his show on Sunday, November 19 at 6pm!
