National recording artist Tony Exum, Jr. is a contemporary jazz, R&B and funk saxophonist, songwriter, and performer. In 2019, his breakout single “My Name’s Tony” catapulted him to international fame, charting on the Smooth Jazz Network top 100 chart for 12 weeks. Tony’s signature style, “Rhythm N Smooth,” combines silky R&B vibes with his masterful saxophone skills.

Growing up, Tony Exum Jr’s house was filled with jazz music. His inspiration was his uncle, when at a family visit age 11, he heard his uncle “wailing” on saxophone in the garage. His uncle handed over his old saxophone and some music books, and Tony’s path began.

He was originally self taught, then studied music in college. After a few years moonlighting, Tony decided to fully commit to his music, and ramped up his recording and performing career throughout the 2010s.

Beyond work as a recording artist Tony embarked on a career in radio hosting in 2017 on Colorado Springs FM Station Jazz 93.5 FM (jazz935.org) with over 20 hours per week of on-air time.

From 2019, Tony became a staple in the national contemporary jazz circuit with performances at festivals and stages across the U.S.
In addition, Tony entered a business venture in late 2019 with Kastell Vodka as their Global Brand Ambassador performing throughout the year at Kas’tell sponsored Red Bottle Affairs also featuring fellow contemporary jazz artists as special guests including Lin Rountree and David P Stevens.

In 2022, Tony signed his first recording contract with Sony/The Orchard/BSE Recordings and released his 2022 single “Everything,” which reached #19 on the Urban Influencer R&B Soul Chart. His latest single “Hold My Hand” peaked at #8 on the Urban Influencer Radio Airplay Experts Smooth Jazz chart.

Tony Exum has performed with Gerald Albright, Marcus Anderson, Jackiem Joyner, Eric Darius, Najee, Julian Vaughn, Adam Hawley, Blake Aaron, Deon Yates, Phillip ‘Doc’ Martin, Paula Atherton and many more.

Just this February 2024, Tony Exum Jr. Hit #1 on Urban Influencer Radio Charts, and that signature “rhythm and smooth” sound keeps on rising.

Tony Exum Jr performed at Middle C Jazz April and December of 2023 to a packed house, and joins us again this August.
