Lindsey Webster, “The Music In Me”
CHART-TOPPING SMOOTH JAZZ VOCALIST
Friday & Saturday, July 25-26
Growing up in an artistic community of Woodstock, NY, the daughter of loving hippie parents, the allure of music was never far from Lindsey Webster. The singer grew up listening to her parents’ Jimi Hendrix, Beatles, and Elvis Costello LPs and later, The Supremes. Her influences include everyone from Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera to Steely Dan and Earth, Wind & Fire, and her Spotify list is a mix of Bob Marley, Lake Street Dive, Raveena, Chaka, Joanna Teters, and an eclectic set of many others.
Webster made history in 2016 with her original, “Fool Me Once,” which was the first vocal-driven #1 song to top the Billboard Contemporary Jazz chart since Sade’s “Soldier of Love” in 2010. She beat Sade’s three-week run at #1 with a four-week stay at the top of the charts.
Coincidentally, Lindsey Webster’s soulful and sultry voice is often likened to the unforced elegance and sophisticated cool of Sade, as well as Brenda Russell and Whitney Houston. Her music skillfully balances irresistible pop melodies with a refined smooth jazz underpinning.
In November 2016, Webster made her Shanachie debut with Back To Your Heart, which spawned three songs that reached Top 3 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Charts: “Back To Your Heart,” “Next To Me,” and “Where Do You Want To Go,” which hit #1. 2018 saw the release of Love Inside, which featured the Top 5 hit “Love Inside” and the Top Ten single “It’s Not You, It’s Me” featuring Rick Braun. A Woman Like Me followed in 2020, featuring the standout title track, the lush ballad “A Love Like Me,” and the catchy “One Step Forward.” With that and more, Webster hit 1 million plays on Apple Music this year.
She has performed thousands of shows in renowned jazz venues and many major jazz festivals throughout the world, headlining as well as featuring alongside artists such as Rick Braun, Brian Culbertson, and Kirk Whalum.
Next up for Lindsey is her latest album, “Music In Me,” set to drop later in 2025. It will be a jazz-rooted, R&B-influenced set of songs she recorded in the studio earlier this year.
This Friday and Saturday, July 25th and 26th, Middle C Jazz welcomes Lindsey as she shares her new music as well as many chart-topping favorites.
