Carolina Spotlight: Ray Singleton sings with soul and a smile

Performance Thursday, December 11

November, 2025 –

Ray Singleton is a local R&B performer we’ve enjoyed on the Middle C Jazz stage frequently over the past few years. His signature soulful R&B sound has been a feature of Rodney Shelton’s Party Night series.

On and off the stage, Ray Singleton has worn many hats as entrepreneur, singer, songwriter, musician, and public speaker. He sees all of them as extensions of one calling: helping people. Raised in the church, he learned early the importance of staying ready, whether he was being asked to sing, speak, or simply show up. Those lessons became the foundation of his stage presence and work ethic today.

His life shifted in 2020 when a video of him singing to his late wife, Roslyn, went viral. What felt like a natural moment of love between husband and wife became a source of comfort and hope for thousands of people. Singleton says the experience reminded him that the world still values love, and it affirmed his belief that he is walking in his purpose even on days he doesn’t feel certain. Professionally, the moment opened doors and brought him into rooms he never expected to enter.

On stage, Singleton has one mission: leave people better than he found them. His music draws from personal experiences of love, loss, faith, and growth. He hopes listeners walk away feeling lighter or more grounded after hearing his music. He stays centered through his faith, describing himself as “the vessel, not the message,” and credits God for keeping him humble through increasing attention.

To Singleton, purpose-driven work means helping others wherever he is—on stage, in business, or in daily interactions. His goal is simple: when people remember him, he hopes they smile. And through both his music and his community efforts, he’s steadily building that legacy.

Ray Singleton joins Middle C Jazz for December’s Rodney Shelton/Eric Brice Thursday Party Night with R&B and seasonal Holiday Classics this December 11th.
