BRINGING BROADWAY, UP CLOSE

Performance: Tuesday, June 23

June, 2026 –

Jessie Booth has spent a decade working at the heart of Broadway, and now she’s bringing that world straight to Charlotte. As a performer, director, and producer with a decade of Broadway credits to her name, including Kinky Boots, The Color Purple, and Rent, Booth relocated to Charlotte during COVID and quickly recognized a gap. The city’s theater scene was sparse, and she saw that as an opportunity. Jessie Booth Productions was born out of a mission to bring Broadway-caliber talent to Charlotte, but in a way that actually feels welcoming.

That “welcoming” part is intentional. Broadway After Dark isn’t a traditional concert or a standard cabaret. Booth describes it as something more immersive — a live experience where the audience isn’t tucked away in rows of theater seats, but rather up close, drinks in hand, in an intimate venue like Middle C Jazz. Her inspiration came partly from her husband, a self-described non-theater person who nonetheless loves live music and genuine talent. Watching him connect with performances pushed Booth to think about how to translate Broadway for audiences who might not know a cast album from a playbill, but absolutely know a powerful voice when they hear one.

With several shows on the horizon, Broadway After Dark offers Charlotte audiences a rare chance to sit close to world-class talent and feel like they’re genuinely part of the performance. For Booth, who performs in the shows herself, the goal is simple: leave people feeling like the art form belongs to them too.

Tuesday, June 23rd, don’t miss the kickoff of this spectacular series.
